New Building Codes for California
Effective January 2008

If you an owner-builder, architect, engineer, or contractor performing work within the State of California, please be advised that a new building code took effect as of January 1, 2008. The new building code is based on the 2006 International Building Code (IBC) and it is significantly different than the Uniform Building Code. Homeowners, before you sign on the dotted line, make sure you hire a contractor that is aware of any code changes that may have a direct impact on what you are preparing to build or remodel.
